Canadian Firefighter Cancer Navigator STATIC MOCKUP
This web site is a static mockup of our latest concepts of what Firefighter Cancer Tools (FCT) could look like. We wanted to provide people with a starting place they can explore to provide us feedback from a user's perspective.
The actual FCT would be accessible in both English and French.
Our focus is empowering firefighters with the tools they want, in the manner they want. So as we move forward with researching firefighter Cancer Tools the largest influence is Canadian front-line firefighters.
Firefighters would have a personalized Firefighter Cancer Tool tailored to their age, gender, province/terrirtory, fire exposure profile, medical history that would provide them the cancer info, tools they want, when they want them, with a range of features. Their app would evolve over time to reflect new cancer developments, news that theat affects them. It would be the one app that empowers them.
Note this a mockup, done over a weekend by a non software, non designer, non artist. It is not perfect, not close, the graphics are terrible, wrong, structure, wording needs a lot of work. Treat accordingly. The point was to get something out quiuckly.
This website is really a first pass, based on the ideas, suggestions, discussions, research with firefighters (full-time, rural, urban, wildland, military, wildland), researchers across Canada, into tools firefighters need.
We see a fast iteriation of this web site, evolving ....
We see the primary access for Firefighters to the Firefighter Cancer Tools by an app on their mobile phone, complimented by a web site.
At this point we envision having both a personalized FCT web and mobile app
This is a early view of the Firefighter Cancer Navigator which WILL change before we developed the first version, will evolve.
These firefighter cancer tools are meant to be developed, tested, evolved across Canada with a selected group of 5,000 firefighters (full-time, volunteer, Indigenous, wildland, military, rural) over 5 years, as part of the research initaitve. It's hoped that with the learnings of this research, demonstraton of Firefighter Cancer Tools that respective provincial, terrirtory Health Authorities are able to develop their own respective tools, guidelines that can be used.
It is our hope that the reserch initiative and this web site helps move forward the education, discussions, public guidelines towards improving, empowering Canadian firefighters with the right personalized cancer tools they need throughout their lives.
These tools will also provide researchers with a wealth of data, including personalized firefighter expsoure monitoring data, providing a valuable base of data over 5 years. The research results wil provide a strong base for advancing firefighter cancer awareness, education, and tools in dealing with cancer throughout their lifes.
Our Canada fireifghter cancer screening research initiative builds on Sherry Romanado's Bill C-224, and the Canadian firefighter community, in moving forward towards developing firefighter cancer tools, and expanding research on the link between firefighting and cancer. We plan to include both french and First Nations language options for people to select what they want.
One key part of our apporach to fireifghter cancer tools is to provide firefighters with options to the level they feel best
This is a long process, the key for us to start the journey. Make a difference today for firefighters, build going forward.
